Privacy Policy

Five Meters provides underwater image and video restoration. We believe in complete transparency and respect your right to privacy. This policy explains how we handle your media files and data.
1. How We Process Your Images
How processing works depends on whether you use a native mobile app or the web editor:
- Native apps (iOS and Android): The mobile apps are fully offline. Colour analysis runs entirely on your device using models and inference runtimes bundled inside each app (Core ML on iOS and standalone LiteRT on Android). The apps do not upload photos, working proxies, adjustments, or diagnostics.
- Web editor: The browser creates a small, low-resolution proxy (about 256 pixels on the short edge) and sends it to our servers—hosted on Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services—to calculate colour correction parameters. The proxy is processed ephemerally; we do not keep a media library of your photos.
- No high-resolution uploads: On every platform, restoration is applied to your original high-resolution file on your device. The original is not uploaded for colour analysis.
- Export Metadata: By default, exported JPEGs strip private source metadata such as GPS, camera serials, and embedded thumbnails. Only colour-profile data needed for accurate colour and Five Meters branding fields are retained.
2. Saving Your Work Locally
We use your browser’s temporary storage to remember your current workspace and editing progress. This allows you to refresh the page without losing your work. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser history or cache. Native apps keep workspace files in private app storage on your device.
3. Native App Privacy
The iOS and Android apps contain no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, crash-reporting SDK, account system, or tracking technology. They do not request network access for editing or export. Opening a link such as this privacy policy hands that link to your chosen browser.
4. Website Hosting and Access
Like most websites, our host (Cloudflare) collects standard server request logs to deliver the site safely. Web inference requests are forwarded through our Worker to AWS Lambda. We do not use third-party advertising tracking tools. We store a single preference cookie so we can remember your language choice.
5. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements to the project. Any updates will be posted directly to this page.
